Ergo Pledges ‘Wish Cloud’ Proceeds to Make-A-Wish Children’s Charity
Ergo has embarked on a money-raising mission to provide a continuous revenue stream for Make-A-Wish Ireland, the charity that helps make wishes come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
By pledging 2% of all monthly subscriptions generated by Microsoft Azure services, Ergo is tapping into modern cloud consumption models to raise money for a deserving cause. Donations are expected to reach at least €100,000 in the first year alone, but this is just the start. Ergo plans to sign up customers to do the same and become Wish Cloud participants, allocating part of their cloud fees to the charity.

A business model based on cloud consumption will now make a lasting impact on an exceptional charity. The more our customers use the cloud, the more wishes will be rained down on the children.”

Since 1992, Make-A-Wish has granted wishes for more than 2,600 brave children across Ireland, including 181 wishes granted in 2019 alone. A wish granted is true magic for the child, providing respite from their normal routines of hospitals, doctors and treatment. Make-A-Wish does not receive any government funding, and relies overwhelmingly on the kindness of the Irish public to continue granting wishes.
As one of Ireland’s leading cloud service providers, Ergo is relishing the chance to innovate for charity and isn’t stopping with cloud subscriptions. “We have challenged our technical teams to devise seamless ways of donating more money to Make-A-Wish and the response has been tremendous,” said Sheahan. Already under development is an RFID solution where employees will simply ‘tap an app’ to pay money for coffee in the office that will go to Wish Cloud.
