At Ergo, we believe in creating opportunities that empower our people to grow, whether that’s across teams, across disciplines, or across borders. Our Life at Ergo series celebrates those journeys and the incredible individuals behind them.
This feature highlights Alana Carroll, who made the exciting decision to move from Ireland to Minnesota to work with our US team. Her story is all about embracing global opportunity and the learning that comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.
We asked Alana three questions about her experience:
What motivated your move from Ireland to the U.S., and how did Ergo support that transition?
Ergo approached me about a possible role helping to grow our business in the US. I had known leader of our US business for a long time and was excited at the opportunity to work together in a new market. Ergo were extremely supportive with everything from visas to travel arrangements, it made a big transition a lot easier.
How has working internationally shaped your career and perspective?
I’m a firm believer that you can learn something from everyone you meet, both personally and professionally. I think the best learning comes from meeting and working with people who have a different life experience than your own. I’ve always loved to travel and experience new cultures but getting to do it through a work lens has been a privilege and a huge learning experience.
What advice would you give to someone considering a global opportunity within Ergo?
Go for it! You only ever regret the things you didn’t do. If it wasn’t for this opportunity at Ergo I may have never had the chance to work abroad and I’m very grateful for that.

Alana’s story is a great example of how global opportunities can shape careers and perspectives. Stay tuned for more Life at Ergo features as we continue to celebrate the people behind Ergo.
