Our first feature shines a light on Sean McAvinue, Head of AI. Sean’s journey with Ergo is a testament to growth, curiosity, and the power of supportive leadership. Starting as a graduate repairing PCs and laptops in our workshop, Sean embraced every opportunity to learn and evolve. Today, he leads our AI practice, helping clients unlock innovation and transform their businesses.
What inspired you to start your journey with Ergo, and how did that evolve into your current leadership role?
“I started with Ergo quite early as a graduate. My first role was repairing PCs and laptops in our workshop. The people in Ergo really helped and inspired me to continuously improve and evolve. Over time, I learned more about what a successful technical practice looks like and core to that is strong, empathetic, and supportive leadership, which are concepts I try to live in my day-to-day role.”
Can you share a pivotal moment or project that significantly shaped your career path here?
“There are so many! I’m a strong believer that each task or project should be more challenging than the last to help drive continuous growth. When I moved (somewhat cautiously) from our managed services team to the professional services delivery team, the goal was to gain a more well-rounded experience. That was a pivotal moment for me where I gained a deep appreciation for the depth and scope of our customers’ businesses and the outcomes we help them to drive.”
What advice would you give to someone looking to grow within Ergo like you have?
“Remain driven and hungry to learn. The entire Ergo team is keen to support anyone who has the drive and willingness to progress. Learn from the people around you—they will be an invaluable asset to your progression in Ergo and in your career as a whole.”
Sean’s story is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more Life at Ergo features as we continue to celebrate the people who make Ergo an exceptional place to work.
