Ergo CEO wins ‘Person of the Year’ at ICT awards
John Purdy, Chief Executive Officer of Ireland’s leading professional IT services company Ergo, has been named ‘Person of the Year’ at the ICT Excellence Awards in Dublin. Recognizing his achievements in Ireland’s ICT industry, the award is the culmination of an extraordinary year. Ergo expanded into overseas markets, acquired CDSoft, won the Microsoft Country Partner of the Year Award, the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Award and was named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Places to Work’.
Accepting the award, John Purdy said, “This could not have been achieved without the full support of my committed management team and staff. I am very proud of them and our joint achievements. It is such an honor to be recognized by my peers in this way.”
The Person of the Year award was selected by an independent panel of industry experts. Commenting on their choice, Eoin O’Driscoll, Chairman of the Judging Panel said, “We recognize John Purdy for his outstanding business performance over many years and his commitment to excellence. He is an inspiration to those around him, and has helped create one of the best IT companies in the country”.
Previous winners of this prestigious accolade include Jim O’Hara of Intel, Michael Daly of IBM and David O’Meara of Havok. Now in its tenth year, the ICT Excellence Awards is Ireland’s longest-running event in the sector, recognizing outstanding achievers in the information and communications technology industry.
The 2011 Awards were presented by Des Cahill at a Gala Presentation Dinner in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire.
John Purdy told the audience about how Ergo had come a long way from the company he co-founded 18 years ago. The company started in a shed with no running water and went on to become one of Ireland’s leading professional IT services companies, employing in excess of 170 staff and delivering award-winning IT infrastructure and software solutions locally and internationally.
It was Purdy’s vision that transitioned the firm from focusing on the sale of IT commodities to providing software solutions and IT infrastructure services to multinational customers. He is also the CEO of Fenergo, a subsidiary of Ergo which provides corporate and investment banks with compliance and customer on-boarding solutions. Last year he also took up the position of Managing Director in XMA PS, a joint venture focusing on the delivery of managed print services to the UK market
